An online seller who runs an Etsy shop planned to rent a Windows VPS for long-term use, so they could open Chrome remotely and manage the shop from one consistent Windows environment. Their main requirement was a dedicated, stable US IPv4 address, and the plan they were considering, the Express Plus Windows VPS, includes one. Before paying, they wanted to know how permanent that IP would be and which US city the server would sit in.

Application Scenario
The customer wanted a remote Windows desktop for an Etsy shop, an Etsy VPS they could reach from anywhere and leave set up the same way every time.
- Open Chrome remotely on a Windows VPS and manage an Etsy shop from it
- Use the server for the long term, including renewals
- Keep a dedicated, stable US IPv4 address
- Know whether the server is in Dallas, Texas or Kansas City, Missouri before ordering
For a VPS Etsy workflow like this one, the IP address matters more than raw CPU or RAM, which is why it was the first thing the customer asked about.

Live Chat: Five Questions Before Buying a VPS for Etsy
At 08:56 on October 29, 2026, the customer wrote to our live chat before ordering. They planned to buy the Express Plus Windows VPS for long-term use and had five questions. Is the dedicated IPv4 assigned only to their VPS? Is it a static US data center IP that stays the same for the whole subscription? Can it change without their consent because of maintenance, migration or hardware failure? Would they be told in advance and asked to approve? And is the server in a US data center, with the exact city confirmed before they order? They also said how they would use it: to access Chrome remotely and manage an Etsy shop.

The original live chat as sent by the customer.
Our chat assistant, Clarity AI, replied in the same minute. It confirmed that the dedicated IPv4 is described as assigned exclusively to one VPS and not shared, and that the plan is listed with a USA location, in Dallas, Texas or Kansas City, Missouri. It also said plainly what it could not confirm: that the IP is guaranteed to stay the same for the full subscription, that every IP change would need the customer's approval, and which of the two cities their server would be in. The published SLA mentions advance notice for scheduled network or hardware maintenance, but not approval for an IP change. Remote Chrome and Etsy shop management are a normal fit for a Windows VPS, the assistant added, subject to Etsy's own account and usage policies.
The customer didn't want to guess. At 08:57 they asked the sales team to confirm two things before they paid: whether the same dedicated IP stays assigned through renewals, with advance notice if a change ever becomes necessary, and whether the VPS could be placed in Kansas City or Dallas. Clarity AI repeated that it couldn't confirm either from the available policy, and at 08:58 the customer asked it to create a ticket. It was submitted at 08:59.
Ticket Follow-Up: What Sales Confirmed About the IP and the Location
Emma from our Sales Department replied at 12:01, about three hours after the ticket was created.

Our sales team's reply on the ticket.
The Express Plus Windows VPS includes one dedicated IPv4 address, assigned exclusively to the customer's VPS and not shared with any other customer. It comes from a US data center and stays static under normal circumstances. On location, our servers are in Dallas, TX and Kansas City, MO. The customer could name a preferred location when placing the order, and we would do our best to accommodate it. As for the workflow, Emma agreed that a Windows VPS is a good fit for accessing Chrome remotely and managing an Etsy shop.
She also offered the free 24-hour trial, so the customer could test the server before committing to a long-term plan.
When a Dedicated IP Can Change on a Windows VPS
The customer's most careful question was about changes, so it is worth setting out what Emma said. A dedicated IP on the Express Plus Windows VPS is static under normal circumstances. There are three situations where a change may become necessary:
- A hosting migration
- A plan upgrade that requires moving to a new server
- Hardware-related changes on our end
Emma described these situations as rare, and said we would always notify the customer in advance before an IP change takes place.
How to Request a 24-Hour Trial
Both of Emma's emails included the same steps for the trial:
- Register an account and complete your profile, which speeds up verification.
- Place an order for the Express Plus Windows VPS.
- Add the note "24-hour trial".
- Submit the order without payment.
Our team then reviews the request and provisions the trial.
Outcome: Dedicated IP and Location Questions Answered, VPS Up and Running
The customer left the live chat without a firm answer on the IP and the city, and got them from the sales team the same day. On October 30, our system sent a follow-up in case the earlier email had been missed. The customer replied on the ticket at 13:20:
"I'm already a customer and my VPS is up and running."
| Before the chat | After the ticket | |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated IP | Unsure whether it is exclusive and how permanent it is | Exclusive to the VPS, static under normal circumstances, with notice before any change |
| Location | Wanted to know the city in advance | Dallas, TX or Kansas City, MO, with a preferred location stated when ordering |
| Next step | Waiting for answers before paying | Became a customer, and the VPS was up and running |

Practical Considerations for Using a VPS for Etsy
The following points were not raised in this customer's chat. They are general tips for anyone who wants an Etsy server for remote browser work.
- Ask the IP questions before you order. Is the address exclusive to your VPS, can it change, and when would you be told? These were this customer's questions, and they are worth asking of any provider.
- Keep a record of your IP. If you allow-list the address anywhere, update it after any change. A plan upgrade that requires migration is one of the situations that can change it.
- Read Etsy's own policies. Etsy sets its own account and usage rules, so check them before you move your shop workflow to a server.
- Protect remote access. Restrict Remote Desktop to your own IP where you can, use strong passwords, and turn on two-factor authentication for accounts that offer it.
- Back up what matters. Scheduled backups run on a fixed cycle, every 2 or 4 weeks depending on the plan, so keep your own copy of important files and exported shop data.
- Use the trial for your real workflow. Open the browser, log in and do your usual tasks before you commit.
- Check latency to Dallas and Kansas City. Test from where you work, and tell us your preferred location when you order.
