A trader planned to run one MetaTrader 5 terminal with an Expert Advisor and a Python application that streams live market data through server-sent events (SSE) on the same Windows VPS. Before paying, they sent a pre-sales ticket asking about shared IP limits, connection duration, background processes and running both programs together. Our sales team answered each question, pointed out which network details to confirm, recommended a plan and offered the free 24-hour trial.

Application Scenario
The customer wanted a VPS for MetaTrader 5 that could also work as a Python VPS, running two programs at the same time, around the clock:
- One MetaTrader 5 Desktop terminal with an Expert Advisor for automated forex trading, an MT5 EA VPS setup tested on a demo account during the trial
- A Python application that keeps a continuous server-sent events connection to the OTCharts API, receives live price updates for five trading assets and saves 15-second candles to CSV files
- Telegram notifications from both applications through the Telegram Bot API
This kind of Python VPS hosting job is common for traders who collect their own market data next to an automated strategy.

What the Customer Asked: MT5 and a Python SSE Collector on One Windows VPS
At 09:17 on November 3, 2026, the customer sent a pre-sales ticket asking for technical confirmation before purchase. They described both programs and the data flow in detail, and added that they knew OTCharts has its own API limits, so their questions were only about restrictions that come from the VPS infrastructure.

The original ticket as submitted by the customer.
They asked five things:
- Are persistent outbound HTTPS and SSE connections permitted?
- Can an SSE connection stay open for several hours or days?
- Are there shared IPv4 restrictions, firewall rules or connection-duration limits that could interrupt the connection?
- Are continuous Python background processes permitted?
- Can MT5 Desktop and the Python application run together without restrictions?
First Reply: What Sales Confirmed and What Needed a Technical Check
Suzy from our Sales Department replied at 12:17.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Outbound HTTPS and SSE connections | Standard outbound HTTPS connections are supported, and Python applications can connect to external APIs. Whether any restriction applies to persistent SSE connections needed confirmation from the technical team. |
| SSE connection open for hours or days | The VPS runs 24/7 so applications can run continuously. A single SSE connection can't be guaranteed to stay uninterrupted, because that also depends on the API provider and network conditions. Automatic reconnection is recommended. |
| Shared IPv4 and firewall restrictions | Express includes one shared IPv4 and 100 Mbps unmetered bandwidth. The technical team can verify whether any connection-duration, firewall or shared-IP limits apply. |
| Python background processes | Yes. For continuous operation, run the application as a Windows service or with a background process manager. |
| MT5 and Python together | Yes, performance depends on combined CPU and RAM use. With 2 cores and 4GB of RAM, test both programs together. |
Suzy also offered the 24-hour free trial, subject to eligibility and availability, so the customer could test MT5, the Python application and the SSE connection before paying. She shared our MT5 hosting page as well.
Trial Request and Plan Recommendation
At 13:25 the customer accepted the trial. They planned to run all three things together: the MT5 terminal with its Expert Advisor on a demo account, the Python application with its SSE connection, and Telegram notifications from both. They asked the technical team to look into persistent SSE connections, shared IPv4 restrictions, firewall rules and connection-duration limits during the trial, and asked whether the trial has any restrictions compared with the paid plan.
Emma from the Sales Department replied at 15:16 with a recommendation before setting up the trial. Express comes with a shared IPv4, which sits behind NAT port mapping. For a connection that has to stay open for hours or days, the network configuration and any connection limits on a shared IP would need to be confirmed. Because the customer's workflow combines a long-lived outbound SSE connection with a running MT5 Expert Advisor, our sales team recommended Express Plus, which includes one dedicated IP as standard. Express does not include a dedicated IP.
If you don't need the extra CPU and disk and only want a dedicated IP, you can order the Express Windows VPS and add one additional dedicated IPv4, which costs only $2/month.
| Express | Express + additional dedicated IPv4 | Express Plus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU | 2 cores | 2 cores | 3 cores |
| RAM | 4GB | 4GB | 6GB |
| Storage | 60GB SSD | 60GB SSD | 100GB SSD |
| Bandwidth | 100 Mbps unmetered | 100 Mbps unmetered | 100 Mbps unmetered |
| IP | 1 shared IPv4 | 1 dedicated IPv4 (add-on) | 1 dedicated IP included |
| Monthly price | $8.99 | $10.99 ($8.99 + $2) | $14.99 |
Second Reply: Answers to the Five Questions
Emma answered the five questions for a VPS with a dedicated IP:
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Persistent outbound HTTPS and SSE | Permitted. No outbound firewall rules or platform restrictions block them. |
| Connection duration | A dedicated IP isn't subject to shared-IP port mapping, and long-lived connections can stay active for hours or days without artificial timeouts, as long as your application sends standard TCP keep-alive or heartbeat packets. |
| Network and firewall | No shared-IP restrictions or connection-duration limits come from our side on a dedicated IP. |
| Continuous Python processes | Running Python scripts or background services continuously is allowed. |
| MT5 and Python together | They can run simultaneously without platform restrictions, as long as the plan has enough CPU and RAM. Express Plus is designed to support this. |
| Free trial | Permissions during the 24-hour trial are identical to a paid subscription, with no extra restrictions. |
An IP type doesn't decide whether a stream stays up. As Suzy's reply noted, how long a connection lasts also depends on the data provider and on network conditions, so no setup can guarantee an uninterrupted stream. Build automatic reconnection into your application either way.

Notes & Troubleshooting
The following issues were not reported in this customer's ticket. They are general tips for anyone running MT5 and a streaming Python application on a VPS.
- Log every disconnect with a timestamp. It shows whether a drop came from the data provider, the network or your own code. If your provider supports resuming a server-sent events stream from the last event, use it after a reconnect.
- Write collected data safely. Save CSV files in small, regular writes and keep a copy outside the server.
- Handle Telegram Bot API errors. If both programs send notifications, make sure a failed or rate-limited message doesn't block your trading or data logic.
- Watch resources during the trial. Check CPU and RAM in Task Manager while both programs run, then decide whether you need more cores or memory.
- Configure automatic startup. Set MT5 to launch in the interactive Windows user session after login. Run Python as a Windows service or through a process manager. See our guide to auto-starting applications after a Windows restart.
